We're happy to announce ITR Expo 16 at VIRginia International Raceway!

Please join us on Oct 19 - 20 (potential non-track day event to follow) when we return to this historic track.
Thanks to all of our supporters. 16 years is an amazing accomplishment!

ITR Expo was last at VIR in 2008, and the track, and its respective facilities, have changed a lot since then.

The scheduled dates this year were designed to close out the year for many as well as reduce conflict with other racing organizations.

Full Course

I'm very excited to go back to VIR. It has been a few years since I drove VIR last, I believe 2013? With the recent repave and slight changes to the track this could be a blast for all. I am very eager to get on the new layout.

NASA Oktoberfast was the last time we went as a group. It's also the last time I was on track for more then one session without blowing up or something

Didnt realize they repaved and made changes. Whats the details and feedback on that so far?

Must be kinda weird at first without The Tree. I havent been there since E8.

Oak Tree was definitely weird. Very strange to go through that turn and have full visibility.

As for the changes/repave details:

-VIR-A Whole New Track

x2 on gorgeous weather. The 3x October events I have done were typically mid 70's during the day and low 60's at night. Leaves are changing color...just awesome weather.

IMO, it's a bunch more fun, you can carry so much speed through what was the oak tree corner that you can carry so much more momentum into the back straight.

Sucks losing the reference point of the tree, but that's whatever. Plus, additional curbing all over really straightens things out.

This. I sat out (regrettably) two Expos because I only had a GS-R. No one cares what you drive. Pinto's and Mustangs get show points. Trust me.

Post Title: Re: (gooch98gsr)

http://virnow.com/about/faqs/

All unlicensed pit, paddock, and other off-road vehicles (i.e., golf cart, pit bike, ATV, etc.) used at VIR must be registered with VIR and have a current off-road vehicle pass displayed on the vehicle at all times. Pit pass link https://rockhousepartners.wufoo.com/forms/w7a0q9/

Who knows. Yeah I remember the exodus from there, a number of us were banned at one point. I think a lot of ppl went to that Tuna site or something I forget. Dont think it lasted very long though. Although annoying, HT has SO MUCH info regarding the ITR its hard to stay away. I also have a link in my signature over there for the Expo thread here.

So, anyway, about that open registration date?

Honda-Tekh.com was good for a couple months lol

We plan to open registration on Friday.

Some adjustments and testing are going on now -- different system for 2016.

Thanks to this information I won't have to waste any more time this week refreshing the registration page waiting for it to say "open give us your money."

I think it's set to visible for registered members.

We haven't really decided how public it should be but will figure something out shortly.

Working on that with them still...

If you register and store the card, I should be able to mark you paid without charging the card. Or...we can manually register you for now, ha.

EDIT: I can confirm that if you store the card, I skip processing payment on it.

The run group sizes are usually determined by the number of instructors available, advanced not included. VIR's size allows us to have large groups without issue.

I have another clip about 10 minutes long that I will post soon. The video automatically shut off while recording, probably because the sensor was overheating in the camera.

I reserved a garage for 18th through 20th. They arent really big enough to keep two cars in there except maybe overnight (tight squeeze) but if you (or anyone else) wants to store shit in there so its not sitting out in the paddock shoot me a few bucks and I have no problem with that. Took some pics of the paving equipment at VIR on Tuesday. In the 2 hours after I took the photos, they unloaded 3 large pavement grinders and several more truckloads of equipment. So the work should be complete and the surface improved for Expo https://www.facebook.com/Wheel...10457

Well it seems as though the M3 is all but sold and out of my garage on its way to its new home.

With that being said, this year's event is within about a week of my anniversary and my son's 2nd birthday and we are planning a family trip instead of a track event.

I'm interested in selling my intermediate driver spot or could trade it for items other than cash.

6 years in a row... It was a good run.

Is anyone in here making the drive from SoCal to VIR? Long story short I need a 35lb package (it's just a brand new honda carpet) brought back here to SoCal since it's ~$175 to ship. The seller has already been paid and has already registered for the event so it's certain he's going.

If so, please PM me and ill give you my phone number and we can talk more, I'm willing to pay anyone $100 to bring it back. If you need some vouches provided I'm sure I could find some to comment on here.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

It's largely dependent on available instructors. VIR Full can hold more cars than we'll have out at any moment. Right now, they're set at 25 due to instructor limitations.

VIR has one of the best hosting facilities IMO. Hotel, Suite, Camping, all to keep everyone at the track. Danville hotels could also be an option but I would much rather take advantage of the track's facilities.

$435 is driver fee, includes banquet
$50 is instructor and guest fee, which includes banquet, event shirt, entry to raffle prizes at banquet, etc.

I'll elaborate slightly on the spectating thing. Most spectators end up asking to sign up for the banquet once there. We don't always have space since we need to lock those numbers in beforehand. You're better off signing up as a guest ahead of time.

Hope that helps!

So glad this is a go!!!! We are super stoked!

I don't have that much more to do on Red before Expo.

- Trans rebuild with a new LSD.
- Install the new coilovers, bushings and motor/trans mounts, align/corner balance.
- Install the new radiator and, of course, flush the cooling system.
- Install the gauges.
- Brake inspection.
- Fresh fluids all around.

Ok, when I break it down, it's actually a lot...

Plenty of time.

The only hard part is going to be finding a suitable trailer for both cars, that actually fits the budget LOL.

Post Title:

I too have a list of things to get done. Get the tranny serviced, oil pan gasket replaced, flush the brake lines with fresh fluid, double check the brake pads, track down another axle back to mate up with my b-pipe, maybe get a little bit of body work done, etc etc. Luckily 1 of our sponsors, Esses, is local to me and is more than capable of getting the job done. Oh, gotta get the trailer double checked and my truck checked too. My wallet is trembling.

I'm super excited this is a go!

I'll be arriving Tuesday mid-day to work on the VIR house if anyone wants to hang before the gates officially open.

I'm also wondering if folks are planning on doing anything the Friday post-expo...

I doubt i will want to drive all the way back to MD thursday after cold track.

Further, I'll have the tools with me at the paddock, assuming i can co-locate w/ Ravi, for on-the-car lower ball joint and wheel bearing service.

They have hook ups in the paddock.

https://www.google.com/maps/@3...hl=en

Electricity: Camping fees do not include access to electricity. Electrical access is only available in the North or South Paddock. The electrical fee is $25 and may be purchased when paying for camping. VIR will issue an electrical “Power Band” this band is to be placed on the end of the electrical cord plugged into a VIR power source. Security will periodically check the power stations and will remove any power cord that does not have the proper power band.

Made an announcement in the instructors meeting this weekend at VIR about the event and needing some more instructors. Got a few inquiries. Hopefully it will lead to a few instructor registrations. Really hoping for dry and sunny conditions.

Post Title: Re: (gooch98gsr)
Posted by: RTW DC2R at 5:27 AM 10/10/2016

As an FYI I spoke to someone at VIR this morning. They had no issues related to the storm. She told me there were some road closures nearby but that all events at the track were on as scheduled this past weekend.

Also just to clarify gate times:
There is an event happening on Tuesday 18th, so paddock/pits access (including garages and suites above the garages, and camping near paddock) will likely not be allowed until 5:30PM.

If you are staying in the lodge or villas, you can likely enter early to check-in. If you have a trailer you will likely need to leave it at staging for the pits.

Post Title:
Posted by: cheezthis at 5:47 AM 10/10/2016

Yep, check-in times:
- Villas 3 pm
- Lodge 4 pm
- Paddock and track itself, 530 pm

Is there anyone camping that is bringing a smokey joe or similar grill? Hope this is not TMI but I got diagnosed with Celiac Disease almost 2 years ago. Has made me a hermit since you can't fucking eat anywhere out. Makes traveling and visiting people a nightmare. Ironically, the business has put a beat down on my ability to do track days so I didn't plan on even going. But considering a last minute trip up in the Integra street car just to hang out and do some light business promotion. I mean, I live North of Atlanta so there is no real excuse not to go. Just need a way to cook food. If someone had a Smokey Joe I could bring my own grill grate but no way I can fit my Smokey Joe in the Teg with all the other stuff I would need to bring. Thanks in advance.

Think it would be good for me to go to an event and not run. Probably light a fire under my ass to get the Tundra tow vehicle back in working condition and find a way to buy some shocks for the spider habitat/race car.

Gluten contaminates whatever it touches so people with Celiac's can't eat food that has been prepped with something used to prep normal food (toasters, grill grates, etc).

Thanks for the replies gents. Ramzi, do you have a tow vehicle or are you just going to shoehorn the smoker in your Teg? If the latter, I can probably just tie the top on my smokey joe and put it in the trunk. Wish I would have done the timing belt on the Tundra long ago. Didn't think about grilling rules but I will just have to beg forgiveness if they catch me. Eating sliced summer sausage on rice crackers for 2 days would be the suck.

Yeah, trying to keep cross contaminants below 20 parts per million is the suck. But is what it is. Time to emerge from hermit shell and live life again.

I will have a few Go-Pro remote microphone kits with me at the track. If you want to improve the sound quality of your videos, these do wonders, gets rid of any case rattle and allows you to position the mic out of the wind, or to get the correct engine sound adding to the visuals while on track. If interested find me in the pits, white #32 Civic. I'll have the tools to modify the case also

If you have a grill or access to 1, I'll bring the venison and seasonings, I'll bring some cheese, ketcbup, mayo. Anyone want lettuce or tomato it's on them. I think 3gen is gonna bring some buns, someone grab chips and I'll cook the burgers. Just need a heads up on who is gonna eat so that I bring enough burger.

I'll shoot you a text tomorrow when we get on our way. Not sure how many to get, but I can definitely grab a few packs of buns.

No problem, there will be plenty. Very very lean meat, prob 99%meat 1%beef fat (holds it together while cooking). Gluten free too. If I didn't tell you it was venison you would never know.

Bummer. Ask around, there are probably some folks that have (or could bring) the parts and could fix at the track.

I think there were 2 or 3 XL left? Joe will know once he's back home and able to decompress a bit.

It usually takes 3-6 months prior to a magazine publication.
