So the car came with a B16A2 bottom end with a p72 head. The owner of the car bought it with what was supposed to be eagle h-beam rods and type r pistons. I first pulled the oil pan off and noticed that the rods were stock PR3. So this prompted me to take the head off. I will let the pics say the rest.

Pulled the VC off to this beauty.

Only to remove BOTH cams to find this in the journals closest to the cam gears.

9/10 studs were ARP, but I knew this once the cams were out. I took one out to measure the length of them though.

Cylinder walls starting to rust it looks like with pr3 pistons

Got the brakes bled today, and everything seems good to go. I installed the e-brake cable that came with the car but I do not think it was the right one. I was also messing around and test fitted the passenger seat. It is a Sonic Motoring VS3 mounted on Buddyclub rails.

What I have to work with under the dash regarding the wiring and the brake tuck.

Seat test fitted.

My next biggest goal for this is to get an engine/trans set up. Once I get that, I can start taking the time needed to get the tucked harness made and everything installed. In the mean time I do need to finish the battery relocation to the trunk. Also the front end wiring tuck needs to be completed too.

Yeah. Bought a car drove it 8 hours and it died in the garage. Timing belt jumped a few teeth. Set the timing belt back on tbc and 5 minutes later it did the same thing. Pulled the cams and your pics looked the same. Had to buy a diff head

Thanks for the info. I got rid of the head to a friend who was aware of the damage, but I will let him know how your experience went.

I cleaned cleaned out most of the dirt, but have been feeling under the weather so I did the best I could. I also picked up a used Crow harness for the passenger seat. My local track is not a stickler about dates, and I got it for a great price.

I got something nice on order already, but I will wait till it comes in to post it. It is not a power plant though, so I am still trying to save up and make the appropriate move for that.

So I finished up the wiring tuck on the passenger side. I can only hope that I got everything fixed because it was pretty bad what I was left with.
This is what I was left with in the the fender well, and after removing what seemed to be a mile of electrical tape.

Slight mod to the door grommet to get my new wires into the cab.

Finished passenger side.

This purchase was not priority at all, but since this uncommon size popped up semi-local as well with a great price... I could not pass them up.
Volk TE37 15x7 +35

I started on the driver side wiring, and it was only worse. I diagnosed what I could, but only became frustrated trying to figure out this hack job and why/what they were doing pulling power out of the fuse box :meh:
I should be finishing up the driver side, and doing some interior mods here in the next few weeks.

Nice wheel pickup. RCrew had a set last week that was really tempting given the price. I love that color.

I worked on the wiring today, and god damn... I dreaded yesterday what I found today,
Driver side shock tower pig tail for engine harness:

Under the tape:

The other end as well:

Under the tape:

Both fucked ends together on the same stretch of wiring:

Not really sure what I am going to do at this point. I got a little discouraged to continue working on it today. Cannot fathom the hack job somone did on a caR like this

yikes.. I thought my cabin harness was fucked, but I think yours takes the cake.

Have you looked into if its possible to use a 96/97 GSR cabin harness? I was thinking about trying to find out, but got lucky and found a 97R cabin harness.

I am looking for something now! If anyone has any leads beside ebay that would be great. Thats my only option right now, as I really do not want to go to a junk yard 60 miles away and hope I can remove one with the likeliness of a 96/97 gsr being there.

I've seen this R go from a bare shell without even windows to a jdm front fully restored car and back to almost a bare shell again. She's had a rough life but hopefully you can bring her back.
